         Somewhere Over the Rainbow came to be in Januaury,  1990.  I brought it up after several years of helping other Commodore and IBM WWIV SysOps run and modify boards.  I Choose the board name because of my handle Dorothy's Friend and love to the movie The Wizard of Oz.  My way of trying to let people know who I was without coming out.
         I became a member of GayNet shortly after it's conception and became good friends with Pixel,  it's founder.  As I came out more and more I got more and more involved in the network and in living true to who I am.  I took on the position of Assistant Network Coordinator / SubsList Coordinator in 1994.  In March of 1995,  I moved to Temple,  TX.  in connection with a promotion in my job,  and decided to keep the board up here.  In July of 1995,  Pixel needed to take his BBS down and ask me to take over the network.  In October of 1996 I took a new position with firm in Richardson,  TX and thus moved the board here to it's current home.

           Due to a serious lack of activity in July 1997, after a 7 and a half year run, I took the BBS down and disbanded GayNet . I now spend all my computer time and energy on the internet and specifically helping manage 3 IRC channels on the Undernet. You can usually find me hanging out in them most any night of the week. I am the Channel Manager of #GayTexas and a Senior operator on both #GayBigD(as in Dallas) and #GayBoots, a new channel started by my good friend Boot-11 aka Sean, from Schenectady, NY.

          GayNet was an idea inspired by some gay and lesbian sysops from around the country,  however no one ever went any further than just talking about it.  Well,  Pixel got tired of waiting,  so he did something about it.
